This will the first of hopefully many thoughts to come! Again my name is Zach, and I am here to share my tales, travels, and thoughts to the world. Over this winter and winters to come. I will be sharing what I am doing, where I am traveling (skiing), and my thoughts on today's ski products. I would love to anyone comment or ask questions about products or anything that comes to mind.
First order of business,
With the ski season just around the corner (Loveland starting to make snow in 9 days) the only thing to think about right now are: What pass I am going to buy? What new equipment do I need if any this year? Where is my equipment? What is going to be on my ski mix? And probably hundreds of other things as well. Well don't you worry friends, I am here to answer all those questions and more(Hopefully)! Looking at ski passes for this year you have a ton of options to go with. I think one way to narrow down your selection is to decide what part of Colorado you want to ski, how many times are you actually going to go, how much do you want or can spend, and being a Colorado native I feel I can help you conqueror these decisions. First, if you only can ski the majority of the time on the weekend you might want to consider getting a Loveland Pass, $359 with some good kickbacks, and for that price it is a pretty good deal, not mention it is right up I-70. Now, if you don't care about traffic or have some magic F***ING carpet I would either suggest the Colorado Super Pass for $459 and that gets you 3 mountains (Copper, Steamboat and Winter Park) or the Epic Pass Local for $499 and that gets you unlimited at Breck, Keystone, A-Basin, and restricted at Vail, The Beav, Heavenly(CA) and Northstar(CA). For the I-70 corridor you can't go wrong with either Super Pass or Epic Local, but if it was me, I would go with Epic Local just because you have Vail and The Beav (and the Beav is empty on the weekends).
Now for outside the I-70 corridor, I would only look at a couple of mountains which are, Monarch $339 with a lot of discounts, Crested Butte.... Yea pretty expensive, Telluride.... Again, expensive, Aspen again very expensive but would be worth it (if you have a place to stay). There are other mountains, but I am just showing that it is hard to call one of these mountains your home base.
We have gone over passes, probably the least amount of fun you will have this ski season! Now I do not want to bore you with info and worthless shit so I will cut to the point. If you want to go buy product ask away, I will respond with my best judgement, and if I don't know I will find out an honest answer. For you ski mix, it all depends on your taste of music but I will also have some of my favorite ski songs posted throughout the ski season on the main page. So please enjoy my first song of many to come!
I hope you all will follow me throughout the season and I look forward to all your awesome, silly, ridiculous questions.
CHEERS

If I go with a pass its Winter Park, Steamboat and Copper. Only because, I love copper or maybe I'll just strictly go with Copper.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I might not get a pass at all and will seldomly travel up on various weekends to ski because I'm buying house.
On the last note, my company gets the 'Gold Passes' which I'll get a few times a year likely starting in January-March. Whatever pass you don't get, we can ride up and hit a diff. mountain.
Good blog,
Kenyon
