When Life Gives You Snow...

Life is always full of difficult decisions and some times you are never sure what to do. This is a common theme in life and people have been dealing with this ever since the first turns were made (and probably before that). When you are having these dilemmas in life just do what you know what to do. Just like skiing you never question yourself on an amazing powder day. You just go out and do what you know to do. The same idea applies to life and the decisions we make. It is natural to question yourself and the path you are taking, but that doesn't mean you can't pursue something because you are questioning it.

I have been dealing with this for the past year, and I have been pushing down my true passions and desires in life. I have been working in an office for over a year now and it is not ideal! Humans are not meant to be in offices all day sitting in front of a computer screen pushing TPS reports around. They are meant to be out and about talking, walking, skiing, boarding, biking, lifting, or anything that is not in an office sitting!!!! I love skiing and what it does for me, and in a past blog The Mountain.. The Ultimate Sanctuary  you can see how I truly feel about skiing, and for the past year I have been denying myself this because I thought it was a childish dream. This was put in my head by the great education system and massive amount of student loan debt I have. You graduate college and you think that having a job in an office is the admiral thing to do, and anything else is not a respectful job. My good friend in his blog: Things You're Supposed to Do talks about life decisions and how people do a lot of things in life that they don't want to do. I suggest you take a look and read some of his stuff. It took me a year or so to figure out that I am not a corporate guy, and I don't think I ever will be either! Skiing has really shown this to me because it is the one thing in my life that has always been there, one thing I know the best, has given me memories that will never be forgotten, and I am pretty damn good it too!

I am saying all this because in life we all think that working is suppose to be work. I say FUCK that! Do what you love and are passionate about! For me it is skiing, for you it might be selling ice cream, copy products, whatever! Do it because you enjoy it and it allows you to be happy in life. The ultimate goal in life is to be as happy as you are while skiing right? So, ask yourself this. Are you where you want to be in life? Are you happy with your current job? Are you happy with yourself? I asked myself these questions a couple months ago and everything single one of those questions were answered as a NO. So that is why I am pursuing my goal of that ideal job, and with the ski season starting yesterday I am hoping that job is on the next chair life ride.
